To create a custom filter, utilize the included basic image filters and combine them. You can also import previously recorded images or videos for recording and exporting.

Filter

Custom filters are formed by linking filters chosen from a selection of over 150 collections in a series. For example, you can create chains such as: Camera input → [Mirror effect → Monochrome effect → Glitch effect] → Display / Recorder.

The sequences within [] are referred to as chains and can be selected and reordered at your discretion. These chains can be saved and easily loaded with a single tap. Though the vast number of filters might make them difficult to locate immediately, searching or categorizing will help you find them. The assortment of filters includes the Apple-built iOS Core Image Filter (*) and POLYCAM's original filter crafted with Metal (*2) shader technology. Additionally, the Loop filter integrates a built-in feedback loop that enables you to re-read the output from the previous frame, making it perfect for experimental video creation and circuit bending. There are also standard filters like StarShine, SunBeam, Lenticular Halo, and Gradient, allowing for the generation of unique images.

Output

Provides full-screen output without any markings in 4 different formats. This software supports HDMI, AirPlay, NDI®, and Aether outputs. By employing smooth alpha transitions across most transitions, seamless production is achievable when projecting full-screen images using these outputs.

Export

If the source input is selected from photos or videos in the photo album, it can be exported asynchronously to the photo album. This method differs from real-time recording during filming and instead writes non-real-time for each frame. It ensures that even at lower CPU or GPU power settings or resolutions, you can save high-quality videos smoothly.

Parameters

Each filter includes numerous parameters that can be adjusted using sliders to fine-tune the filter's balance and effects. These parameters can be automated with an LFO oscillator or random generator mechanisms. Moreover, you can assign audio input peaks from microphones, accelerometers, gyro sensors, MIDI inputs, etc., for interactive control and create captivating audio visualizers.

Saving, Sharing, and Exporting Chains

The created chains can be saved using the save button at the bottom right of the chain table view. These saved chains are neatly organized in a collection view and can be loaded through tapping or drag-and-drop actions. Sharing chains is possible by dragging them to the designated share icon; they can be sent to macOS or saved using the File app. Exporting these settings allows for sharing the entire current chain collection with others (*5).
